BREAKING: Northeast Iowa Authorities Searching for Suspect Wanted on Multiple Felony Warrants

Authorities in the northeast Iowa area are searching for a suspect wanted on felony warrants in Iowa and Wisconsin.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office says they received calls from  concerned residents about a suspicious person, leading deputies to attempt a traffic stop of a vehicle driven by 41-year-old Jon Moreland Friday evening.  Moreland drove away from officers at a high rate of speed, before abandoning the vehicle in Glenwood Township, about three miles east of Decorah. He then fled on foot into a secluded and wooded area near the Trout River State Fishing Access. Moreland is a white male, last seen wearing blue jeans, a dark colored t-shirt and baseball hat.

Law enforcement cautions the public that if you encounter Moreland, do not approach the suspect. Contact authorities immediately.  They also urge you to lock the doors to your homes and vehicles and take keys out of your vehicles.

As of 7:30 p.m. Friday, Moreland was still at large. He has outstanding arrest warrants out of Iowa and multiple felony arrests out of Wisconsin.

Authorities arrested a second subject involved with Moreland who also had multiple outstanding felony arrest warrants out of Wisconsin.

The Iowa DNR, Winneshiek County Emergency Management, Decorah Police, Iowa State Patrol and Crawford County, Wisconsin, Sheriff’s Office, along with the assistance of the Decorah Volunteer Fire Department are aggressively searching for the subject with assistance of drone imaging and K9 tracking.
