The Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors has appointed a new attorney to represent the county in legal matters.
Jennifer Schwickerath resigned from her position as Chickasaw County Attorney, which took effect August 13th. Supervisors have selected David Laudner to replace Schwickerath and he will take over the duties as County Attorney on September 30th. He will then serve out the remainder of the elected term slated to end on December 31st, 2022.
Within fourteen days of the appointment, the public may submit a petition requesting a special election to fill the County Attorney position. The petition may not be signed earlier than the date of the appointment of the County Attorney and must be filed with the Chickasaw County Auditor.
A 1997 New Hampton graduate, Schwickerath was elected County Attorney in 2018, but has decided to return to private practice in Independence.
