A Charles City man has been arrested on felony burglary charges.
The Charles City Police Department says a burglary search warrant was executed in the 1000 block of South Grand Avenue shortly after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. Several items were seized related to break-ins over Sunday and Monday night at Dairy Queen on South Grand Avenue. Drug-related items were also found, leading to the arrest of 33-year-old Rene Hernandez on two counts of third-degree burglary, Class D felonies. Additional charges are possible.
Court documents state Hernandez went through drawers and money bags in the restaurant, getting away with about $3,000 in cash and checkbooks as well over $60 in rolls of coins.
