New Hampton Schools Aim for “Normal” Approach New School Year

While the  New Hampton School District is approaching the new school year starting Monday as “normal” as possible, school officials also know COVID can impact operations.

Superintendent Jay Jurrens recently told the School Board the district will provide teachers the resources and supplies they need to feel safe and comfortable in their classroom.

As for students, Jurrens says if COVID illnesses should experience a significant rise, adversely affecting student attendance, they’ll seek guidance from health officials.

School districts can not mandate masks for students, staff or visitors and while Jurrens says they can’t change those safety protocols if COVID cases rise, measures they can take include increasing cleaning and sanitizing efforts and/or limiting the number of visitors.
