The City of New Hampton has hired a Charles City-based attorney to become their new city attorney, about two months sooner than expected.
In early July, current City Attorney Kevin Kennedy submitted his resignation, effective December 31st. However, he said he would step down sooner if his replacement is ready to assume the duties before that date.
At Monday (08.16) night’s regular meeting, the City Council voted to hire Todd Prichard. Mayor Bobby Schwickerath says the City was fortunate to find Kennedy’s replacement quicker than they anticipated.
Schwickerath says Nashua attorney, Laura Folkerts, was also considered. Prichard will start September 1st, taking over a position Kennedy held since 1986.
