North Iowa Airports to Get State Aviation Funding

Improvements projects at the Cresco and Mason City airports will be paid for or mostly covered by state funding approved last week.

The Iowa DOT’s Aviation Program for fiscal year 2022 will award  $110,000 in Airport Development funds to assist Cresco Municipal Airport make improvements to their runway drainage. The total project is estimated at about $130,000.

The Mason City Municipal Airport will receive just over $121,000 in Commercial Service Vertical Infrastructure funding for improvements to their equipment storage facility. The state money will pay for the entire project.

The Aviation Program is also giving almost $64,000 in General Aviation Vertical Infrastructure funds to the Algona Municipal Airport to replace a hangar door. The project’s total price tag is estimated at $85,000.
