The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office is making headway in their investigation of various burglaries and thefts occurring in the county during the month of July.
In a Facebook post late Friday, the Sheriff’s Office said their department “has cleared several of these cases and charges are being filed. A news release to the media with more details will be forthcoming. A huge thank you and shout out to everyone who provided tips and assistance with solving these crimes.”
The burglary victims have been primarily business establishments and country clubs including Silvercrest Golf and Country Club just north of Luther College in Decorah, Twin Springs Supper Club on the west edge of Decorah, and TnA’s Lounge in Ridgeway. Law enforcement has also investigated the July thefts of an ATM from the fairgrounds during the Winneshiek County Fair as well as golf carts from Oneota Golf and Country Club in Freeport, just northeast of Decorah.
Also in July, the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office said as many as nine north Iowa juveniles could face vandalism charges in connection to several incidents in the Ossian area. All those charged in the investigation were referred to juvenile court services.
