The parent company of the Vermeer service center in Charles City is planning a $44 million expansion.
According to a news release from the state economic development agency, the company plans to build a new parts distribution facility in Pella and convert an existing building for product and field training. Once completed, Vermeer, makers of ag and industrial equipment, expects to hire 100 more employees in Pella.
The Charles City service center is Vermeer’s latest addition providing parts and service to its Northern Iowa customers. They are in the process of rehabbing and updating the former Marzen Towing building on South Grand Avenue.
