Greene Fire Department Hosts July 4th Fundraiser

A July 4th dinner option in Greene is the annual “Supper at the Station” fundraising dinner to benefit the Greene Volunteer Fire Department.

Chief Cory Wiegmann says they’re ready to serve upwards of 400 people Sunday night from 5 to 8 p.m. Free will donations for the sit down picnic meal including hamburgers, brats, hotdogs, baked beans, chips and lemonade go towards purchasing new firefighting equipment.

Wiegmann says with last year’s event cancelled by COVID-19, the department’s fundraising took a big hit, but through donations, they were down only by about half what they normally raise.

And with the of the July Fourth weekend upon us., Wiegmann also advises cautions for anyone shooting off fireworks.
