With the July 4th holiday falling on Sunday, many activities for this year’s Fourth of July celebration in Charles City have been moved up a day to avoid conflict with church services.
Events changing to Saturday include the Firecracker 5K Race at 7:30 a.m. and the parade at 10:30 a.m. Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Mark Wicks says the festivities will then be focused in Central Park highlighted by live music.
Wick says Saturday’s live music will be capped off the pop rock band, Shirts and Skins, from 7-11 p.m.
Featured activities still occurring on Sunday, July 4th are the Charles City Municipal Band concert in Central Park at 7:30 p.m. and fireworks at about 10 p.m. The fireworks show will be conducted on the southern edge of town as it was last year.
