Howard County Authorities on Air Patrol Friday

“Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” the latest Special Traffic Enforcement Program (sTEP) by law enforcement across Iowa, begins Friday (07.02).

While most police departments, county sheriff’s offices and state troopers will look to crack down on drunk driving by patrolling the roadways, there will be some authorities in north Iowa on the lookout for impaired drivers and speeders from overhead.

In a Facebook post Wednesday, the Howard County Sheriff’s Office said deputies along with officers from the Cresco Police Department will join forces with the Iowa State Patrol to conduct a speed enforcement project on Highway 63 on Friday (07.02). The special patrol will utilize the state patrol’s aircraft to monitor traffic from the air.
