Former Mitchell County Resident Pleads Guilty to Sex Crime

A former Osage resident facing multiple charges for sexually abusing a child has agreed to a plea deal to avoid significant jail time.

Court records show 24-year-old Marcus McNealy, now of Sheffield, was initially charged with four counts of second-degree sexual abuse and four counts of third-degree sexual abuse. He was accused of abusing a child between May 2011 and November 2016 while he was living in Mitchell County.

McNealy pleaded guilty to one count of lascivious acts with a child and was given a deferred judgment and five years of supervised probation. He must also pay a $750 civil penalty, register as a sex offender, and complete all recommended sex offender treatment. However, the conviction will be removed from McNealy’s record if he successfully completes the terms of his probation.
