One person suffered non-life threatening injuries after being shot Saturday night in north Iowa.
Mason City Police say they responded to a report of several gunshots being fired near the intersection of 1st Street and North Madison Avenue shortly after 10 p.m. At the scene, officers found a victim with a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim told authorities he was walking down the street when he was shot at. He was transported to MercyOne North Iowa by Mason City Fire Department personnel.
After canvassing the neighborhood and collecting evidence at the scene, Mason City Police say they believe it was a targeted incident and not a random shooting. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the police department or Crime Stoppers of North Central Iowa.
