Charles City Man Facing Theft Charge for April Break-In

An investigation into a break-in two months ago has led to the arrest of a Charles City man on a theft charge.

Thursday, the Charles City Police Department arrested 30-year-old Buddy Skowron, Jr. at a business in the 600 block of Gilbert Street on a warrant for second-degree burglary. Skowron is accused of forcing his way into an apartment in the 2100 block of Clark Street in April.

Investigators say Skowron unscrewed the peep hole in the door and then used a tool or knife to unlatch the deadbolt to open the door. He also allegedly made a threat to a person inside the apartment attempting to keep the door closed. According to court records, Skowron was found outside the apartment building with the peep hole still in his possession.

He was booked into the Floyd County Jail on $10,000 bond.

Also on Thursday, Charles City Police responded to a call near the intersection of Blunt Street and Main Street and took 39-year-old Fedrick Banks into custody on two arrest warrants.
