Charles City Gas Pump Bump Costs 20K in Damage

There were thousands of dollars in damages to a fuel pump hit by a truck in Charles City over the weekend.

The Charles City Police Department says 57-year-old Ahmed Mohamed of Des Moines was attempting to pull the semi he was operating up to a fuel pump at Kwik Star on South Grand Avenue when he struck the fuel pump with the trailer of the semi shortly before 7 p.m. Friday. Damage to the semi and trailer was limited to minor scratches, but damage to the fuel pump was estimated at $20,000.
