Charles City Man Arrested After Foot, High Speed Pursuit

A Charles City man was arrested this weekend after he tried to flee on foot following a high-speed vehicle chase with law enforcement.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office says a vehicle driven by 28-year-old Anthony Long was initially stopped at the intersection of 7 Mile Road and Highway 14 west of Charles City shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday. Long then fled the scene and led authorities on a high-speed pursuit through Floyd County and into Cerro Gordo County, where Mason City Police deployed stop sticks to stop the vehicle. Long then tried to flee on foot, but was apprehended quickly by Floyd County Deputies and Mason City Police officers.

Long has been charged with felony eluding, interference with official acts, driving while barred, exceeding the speed limit and reckless driving.
