New Hampton Fire Department Helps Swimming Pools Be Cool

With summer taking hold this week as temperatures warm to near 90 degrees, the New Hampton Fire Department is ready to help city residents stay cool.

First Assistant Chief Nick Jurgensen says the department is again offering to fill swimming pools with water, a service that took off in 2020 due to COVID-19.

Jurgensen advises residents in the New Hampton fire district to contact the fire department a few days in advance to get on the schedule. He says the program has been a win-win for firefighters and the citizens they serve.

Jurgensen says there’s no limit on the size of the pool they will fill, but reminds residents they will be billed for the water and for mileage. A monetary donation to the New Hampton Firefighters Association is also welcome and appreciated.
