Charles City Nurse Reflects on Pandemic During National Nurses Week

Saying that the work of nurses has been challenging during the pandemic would be an understatement.

Floyd County Medical Center (FCMC) Registered Nurse Amy Kilcher says the past year has been very difficult seeing so many patients, and sometimes co-workers, sick due to the coronavirus. She adds nurses also had to find different ways to provide comfort and care for COVID patients when traditional methods weren’t enough or didn’t work.

Still, Kilcher, a nurse for nine years, says she and her fellow nurses try to look for a silver lining from the experience.

The week of May 6-12 is National Nurses Week. This year’s theme is “Frontline Warriors.”
