Floyd County Public Health announces COVID19 vaccine roll-out

Charles City, IA – Floyd County Public Health released a statement on Monday announcing 100 doses of the COVID 19 Moderna vaccine will be available to those who are age 65 and older. The first clinic date will be on Tuesday, February 9th beginning at 9:00 a.m.

The Floyd County Public Health call center will open at 9:00 a.m. on February 5th and will remain open until all appointment times are full. It is extremely important to remember you must have an appointment to receive the vaccine. No walk-ins will be accepted.

Additional appointments will be received as more of the vaccine becomes available.

The manufacturer of the vaccine is Moderna and additional information regarding the vaccine can be reviewed at the Floyd County Public Health website, You are asked to review the vaccine and the Emergency Use Authorization Fact Sheet on the website.

The vaccine will be held at the Floyd County Youth Enrichment Center at the fairgrounds.

The number to call, beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, Feb 5th to schedule an appointment for the vaccine is 641-257-6187. Again, that number will be activated on Friday, February 5th at 9:00 a.m.

Floyd County Public Health said the vaccine is being administered as quickly as they can receive it and asks for continued patience. They also remind the community to continue to practice social distancing,mask wearing and continue to wash hands frequently.
