The Charles City Chamber held the 25th annual Spookwalk event on Oct. 29th. They were forced to take to the streets as this year’s event was a drive-thru version, in which children and their families stayed in their vehicles and slowly drove past two blocks of costumed characters and Halloween decorations and displays. At the end each child in the vehicle received a treat bag loaded with goodies.
The results are in for the annual display contest. This year’s competition had three categories and three judges. The judges consisted of: Mayor Dean Andrews, a community judge, and a kid judge.
- First Security Bank & Trust received the “Best Commercial Display” by the judges
- The Charles City Arts Center was named the “Best Non-Profit Display”
- And CUSB Bank received the “Kids Choice Award.”
But, Director Mark Wicks doesn’t believe there were really any losers.
