‘Drive-thru Spookwalk’ event on October 29th; KCHA to play music for it

The Charles City Chamber annual ‘Spook Walk’ event is less than 2 weeks away. And of course, it will look completely different – with an emphasis on safety – the event is going to be in drive-thru form.

The event is tabbed for October 29th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and instead of walking along a decorated riverfront trail from treat station to treat station, we will have a drive-thru event from North Jackson Street to Central Park.

The plan is to have vehicles enter from North Main by the bridge and slowly drive through a gauntlet of costumed creatures, displays and decorations. At the end of the route each child in the vehicle (ages 12 and under) will receive a free bag of treats donated by all of the participating businesses and organizations.

During or after the event, families should stop by the area’s assisted living centers. Director Mark Wicks says it makes the residents very happy to see each costume.

Finally, 95.9 KCHA will be playing Halloween-type music through the entire event to set the mood – so tune in from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.!
