With the announcement that the Charles Theatre could be out of commission until at least 2021 – the silver screen hunger is sure to grow. The Chamber’s promised drive-in double-feature is this coming weekend.
The event is tabbed for Saturday, October 17th, starting at 7 p.m. at the Charles City High School parking lot. JAM DJ Systems has been hired to come in with a big screen and projection equipment to show a double feature of The Goonies, followed at 9:10 p.m. by another American film classic, ET: The Extra Terrestrial. Social distancing will be provided by watching from or next to your vehicle. Attendees will have a choice of listening to the movies through an FM signal to their car radios, or through outdoor speakers
Admission will be a free-will donation to support the Chamber. Concessions will also be available on site, with popcorn from the Charles Theatre. The high school is providing use of the parking lot and restroom facilities.
Chamber Director Mark Wicks says that the selections were based on a public poll and should be appropriate for the ‘entire family’.
