Chickasaw County reminds locals it is ‘Preparedness Month’ in Iowa

Gov. Kim Reynolds has proclaimed September as Preparedness Month in Iowa.

Emergency Management Coordinator for Chickasaw County Jeff Bernatz says, “In an emergency, seconds count which is why personal and family preparedness is vital to having the best possible outcome as an individual and ultimately as a community.  Chickasaw County Emergency Management joins the Governor in recognizing the importance of planning, preparing and practicing for emergencies in the home, school, workplace and community,” 

During Preparedness Month, HSEMD and IEMA are urging Iowans to take simple steps to ensure they and their families are prepared. Those steps are make an emergency plan, build an emergency kit, and be aware of hazards in your area.
