Myrtle Rosa (Bill) Albrecht was born March 9, 1927, in a farmhouse near Colwell, Iowa. She was one of 16 children (12 daughters and 4 sons) born to her parents, Fred and Rosa (Davis) Bill. She received her education at the Cedar Township Country School. Myrtle was united in marriage to Marven E. Albrecht on November 23, 1951 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They made their home in Greene, Iowa where two children: Larry and Velda were born to this union.

Myrtle began employment at a laundry business and then later became employed by the Charles City Manufacturing Company for many years before starting her own business of home finishing and painting. Fourteen years later, Myrtle decided to end that business and start another business of home daycare which she enjoyed for ten years. She had many cherished memories of all the children who have shared in her life. Myrtle then moved from Greene to Charles City where she heard about the Foster Grandparent Program and because of her love for children she became a “Grandma” at Washington Elementary School. At the age of 85, she finally retired for good due to her health.

Myrtle’s interests over the years included vegetable gardening, canning, cooking and baking, quilting and she loved being with her friends and family. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Charles City and a former member of First Presbyterian Church in Greene, Iowa.

Living family members include her son, Larry (Tina) Albrecht of Greene; daughter, Velda (Conrad) Rivard of Hudson, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren: Tony Johnson, Eli Albrecht, Tyson Albrecht, Toya Pattschull, Cody Pattschull, Lukas Rivard and Kazlin Rivard; twelve great-grandchildren: Michael Johnson, Jaila Reicks, Hudson Albrecht, Beau Albrecht, Liam McMaster, Leo McMaster, Ava Pattschull, Zoey Pattschull, Jordan Rivard, Kashton Rivard, Kinley Rivard and Dean Albrecht; two sisters: Violet Klassen of Belvidere, Illinois and Arlene Carr of Charles City; along with several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marven; nine sisters: Lois Bill (who died in infancy), Mae Mackamul, Clara Parker, Florence Wells, Edith Weidner, Dorothy Logan, Elsie Conway, Grace Waddell and Frieda Hart; and four brothers: Lester, Ernest, Elmer and Harvey Bill.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Charles City.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
