Charles City McDonalds to remodel drive-thru; will continue to be open

Orange cones, excavating equipment, and construction crews are once again a familiar sight in the Charles City McDonald’s Drive Thru as crews work to make major changes to its layout. The drive thru will remain open throughout the entire construction process, which is expected to take approximately one month.

When Charles City’s Drive Thru was originally constructed in 2008 after Iowa’s catastrophic flooding, it was one of the earlier two-lane concepts.  Over the years McDonald’s has improved layouts to allow for a better flow of traffic and faster service for customers.  A new island will be constructed and the menu boards moved back to 120 feet from the pay window. There will also be improvements to technology with new cameras and speaker systems to improve order accuracy.

Soifer Family McDonald’s Owner/Operator Scott Soifer has seen significant growth and support from the Charles City community and decided this was an ideal time to make the adjustment to this store’s layout. “Our business has changed significantly since the restaurant was built in 2008, from cooked to order Hot of the Grill Quarter Pounders to a much larger variety of specialty beverages. By moving the order point further back, we will get the orders into the kitchen faster, reducing the number of cars we need to pull forward. As more customers are choosing the Drive Thru due to health and safety concerns, the time was right to make these improvements.”

Soifer Family McDonald’s has 12 locations throughout Iowa, including Charles City, New Hampton, Waverly, Cedar Falls, Iowa Falls, Hampton, Oelwein, Center Point, Vinton, and Independence. Over 600 McFamily members call Soifer Family McDonald’s home and are proud to serve you McDonald’s classics daily.
