Shop Iowa – A free opportunity for local businesses to sell their products online

In the Charles City Chamber of Commerce monthly newsletter, they relayed important information to local business owners.

The post reads:

You now have a new opportunity to sell your products online – and at no cost the first year thanks to the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA)! A new marketplace website platform has been set up called “ShopIowa.com” to assist Iowa’s small brick and mortar retail businesses sell online during and post-COVID-19. Eligible businesses can post up to 25 products for sale … and the best part is IEDA is picking up the fee for the first year.

Eligible businesses must:

  • Have an Iowa retail brick and mortar storefront within a commercial zoning classification
  • Have fewer than 20 employees or an annual gross income of less than $4 million
  • Have physical products that can be easily shipped
  • Be willing to receive orders through the ShopIowa.com site

(Restaurants and home-based businesses are not eligible through this program)

It’s easy to set up and you can manage your own shop on the site, but if need be there is also a ShopIowa team that can assist. Additionally, the Charles City Area Chamber of Commerce is here to help get you set up on the site if you want. Simply reach out to us for assistance if needed.
