Chickasaw County Public Health reveal 4 new cases of virus; talk what to do when waiting for test results

Chickasaw County has confirmed 4 new cases of COVID-19. The cumulative total of positive cases is 48, with 38 cases that have recovered and been released from Public Health monitoring.

Age groups are as follows:

4 cases are in the 0-17 year age range.

22 cases are in the 18-40 year age range.

11 cases are in the 41-60 year age range.

8 cases are in the 61-80 year age range.

3 cases are 81+ year old.

COVID-19 testing has become more available to our community through TestIowa and the local healthcare providers. It may take a few days for the results to come back. The clinic or testing site that did your testing will get the results to you.

“While you wait for test results, stay at home,” Chickasaw County Public Health Director Lisa Welter urges. “Do not go to work, shopping, restaurants or any other public places. Separate yourself from the people and pets in your home, as much as possible. Through contact tracing, we are learning people are getting tested for COVID-19 but continuing to be out in the community and passing the virus along to others.”

Continue taking preventive steps:

Wear a mask if you cannot avoid close contact with other people and pets.

Wash your hands often for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, if soap and water aren’t available.

Cover your coughs and sneezes with your sleeve or a tissue.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

Routinely clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and objects.
