‘Extremely minor’ fire in Charles City Thursday morning as very busy month continues for CCFD

The Charles City Fire Department has been busy over the last couple of weeks. Structure fires galore – and Thursday morning at 4:00 a.m., the CCFD responded to a report of a house fire with smoke throughout the home at 605 N. Iowa St. in Charles City.

The home was quickly evaluated with no injuries – the house fire was deemed ‘ extremely minor’. According to records, the home is owned by Adam and Yolanda Usher. The homeowner told the CCFD that a fire had started on an exterior wall of the home and that they had extinguished it.

The house’s only total damage was charring on the exterior wall and minor damage to the exterior wood trim.

The CCFD determined the fire started outside the home and were unable to pinpoint a cause of the fire. The CCFD was able to respond to the fire and get back to the station in an hour.
