Gov. Reynolds announces 521 new cases; ‘phase 1’ of reopening the state

Iowa had a huge caseload of COVID-19 on Friday – 521 new cases; 11 new deaths. This was of course due to manufacturing outbreaks and healthcare workers – which Gov. Kim Reynolds says are recently being tested at a much higher clip.

The big news?

Gov. Reynolds announced a couple of details that pertain to reopening Iowa. She teased the concept of ‘Phase 1’ of reopening the state which will be fleshed out completely on Monday. But still, she said on Monday hospitals and farmers markets would have some bans lifted.

Under the permission of the president, many expect Gov. Reynolds to slowly reopen Iowa as the key May 1st day is quickly approaching. On that day, businesses will no longer be under a emergency proclamation and can theoretically reopen without too many hitches.
