Senator Ernst showcases virtual tour of Chickasaw County farm; talks COVID-19 effects on agriculture

Packing plants in Iowa have been plagued by coronavirus-related outbreaks in the last couple of weeks. These type of events have trickle-down effects all over the state. One of which is hog farms. Reicks View Farm, in Chickasaw County, who produces 1% of the nation’s pork, is no exception to this rising rule. Senator Joni Ernst live streamed a narrated virtual tour of Reick’s farm on Wednesday.

The goal was to explore how the virus is affecting agriculture across the state.

Reick briefly talked about his family’s farm before commencing the virtual tour.

With over 300 employees, Reick’s farm have needed to take serious precautions in terms of mitigation for the virus on their land.
