Charles City Fire Department put out basement fire

A fire broke out in a Charles City home on Wednesday morning around 11 a.m. The Charles City Fire Department was dispatched to a residence at 903 5th Avenue. Upon arrival, the fire was under control in 30 minutes and the resident escaped the fire unharmed. 

The blaze was deemed to start in the basement. The house and many items were left with fire and water damage – and major smoke damage riddled the home.

The CCFD was assisted by the 911 Communications Center, CCPD, AMR Ambulance, Floyd County Emergency Management, Cowell Fire Department, and MidAmerican Energy.
