‘Charles City Spirit Cruise’ snakes around town

Gloomy conditions draped the Charles City sky as the first ever ‘CC Spirit Cruise’ began. A makeshift parade the school system had created in order to see their kids while adhering to social distancing guidelines. The parade contained cars full of teachers and facilities – students were asked to line their lawns and play Where’s Waldo starring their favorite educator.

The parade started at the Middle School and ended near Maple Heights. Communications Director Justin DeVore said this was on purpose.

The parade was a part of the larger ‘Spirit Week’ that Charles City schools are putting on through April 3rd. April 2nd is ‘Pet Day!’ and students are told to snap a photo of their pet and post it.

DeVore said the parade’s main purpose was for students to see teachers; and vice versa – because, they miss each other.
