Floyd County Public Health talks coronavirus; what to do if it spreads to area

The coronavirus is closing schools, sectioning-off districts, and instilling fear around the world. The CDC announced it could take months to wrangle the germ and create a drug to combat it. Tensions rise even further when the symptoms of the drugs can show up-to two weeks after picking up the virus. Floyd County Public Health is preparing for the possibility that the coronavirus could spread into Iowa – even with the number of current infected Iowans hovering at zero.
Administrator Gail Arjes says FCPH is working closely with the Iowa Department of Public Health to develop a plan in case of an outbreak.
Arjes says residents of Floyd County should focus on three actions when preventing the spread of the disease:
- Cover coughs and sneezes
- Wash hands frequently
- Stay home if ill
Arjes cannot make a definite prediction on the virus’s trajectory.
