Osage wrestling wins 2A championship; first win since 1981

Osage High School wrestlers are 2A state champions. With the unexpected triumph, the Green Devils are crowned for the fourth time in school history; and the first time since 1981. This win came off a year with not a single individual state champion – a fifth place here, a second place there, was enough consistency to win over favored West Delaware.

Both Nick Fox in the 120 final, and Spencer Mooberry in the 170 championship lost their individual honors which could have left the door open for a team to come from behind on the final day, but regardless, Osage’s lead held true.

After the team won, the Osage Community School Facebook page wrote: “Ladies and gentlemen!!!!! We have a State Title Trophy coming to Osage!!!!!!!! Sea is green is coming home with a new centerpiece in trophy case! First title since 1981!!!!!”

The Green Devils all returned on Sunday and held a celebration in their shiny new gym.
