In one week’s time, there will no longer be a Kmart store in the state of Iowa. Sunday, February 16th the black hole of superstore-woes, will officially swallow-up both the Algona and Charles City stores.
This will add to the already high unemployment rate in Floyd County – which already sits as the second highest in the state at 4.6%.
Before the superstore scavengers can pick the store completely clean, Charles City’s Kmart is bolstering large deals for their last week:
80% off women’s apparel
80% off kitchen essentials
75% off socks and shoes
70% off toys
70% off jewelry
70% off men’s apparel
70% off purses
60% off furniture
60% off blankets
The empty Kmart building will create a crater of emptiness on the edge of Charles City that will need to be filled in the future.
