Floyd, Mitchell, Chickasaw Counties receive housing grants

The Iowa Finance Authority is giving upwards of $6.4 million in grants to 27 Local Housing Trust Funds to support local affordable housing initiatives.

Debi Druham, director of the Iowa Economic Development Authority says: “Local Housing Trust Funds make a very real difference in the lives of thousands of Iowa families but they also leverage millions in other contributions, showcasing the shared commitment to advancing affordable housing throughout our state.”

Here are some of the area recipients:

Floyd County will split $207,431 being put in the NIACOG Housing Trust Fund Inc.

Mitchell County will receive a portion of the $260,437 of the Homeward Housing Trust Fund grant.

And Chickasaw County gets a cut of the $252,996 inserted in the Iowa Northland Regional Housing Council Local Housing Trust Fund.

The money will be used towards preserving aging housing, providing Iowan’s with low-interest loans to be used towards their homes, constructing new homes, and much more.
