First Charles City city council of decade meeting preview (1/6)

A Charles City city council meeting is taking place tonight at City Hall starting at 6 p.m. This marks the first meeting of the decade and for new city council members – Phoebe Pittman and Phillip Knighten. Here is the highlights of tonight’s agenda:

Mayor Dean Andrews will be signing a proclamation that honors this year as the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment. This is noteworthy for Charles City, since Carrie Lane Chapman Catt’s childhood home is located on the outskirts of town.

Locals Adam Buseman and Dana Sullivan, will be appointed to the city’s park and recreation board. Buseman and Sullivan will be replacing Jim Smith and Ken Sheckler.

Lastly, the infamous 4th Avenue will be discussed:

Carter Melrose

Carter bullied his way onto the KCHA radio waves after spending 4 years at the University of Iowa as a studying journalist. He writes news, short stories, features, but more than anything, he has a proclivity to wax philosophically.
