Brown and gray Christmas probable for northeast Iowa

“May all your Christmases be white,” has turned into a sick joke for most of Iowa – and the country, really. Christmas day holds a 20% chance of precipitation, but it may not even get cold enough to elicit snow throughout the week.

Worse yet for white Christmas chances, Sunday in Charles City looks to get close to 50 degrees. This should be warm enough to melt all the current snow and set us up for a browner and grayer holiday.

When meteorologist Nicole Batzek was asked what percent chance northeast Iowa had of a white Christmas, she said: 20%.
