Charles Theater, the golden laced fixture of Charles City’s main street, has long been known across the area as a place you go to get dirt-cheap entertainment. For the last 20 years, a movie has cost only $1 for children and seniors, and $2 for adults.
As of January 2020, the new ticket cost for children and seniors is $2, and $3 for adults – a $1 inflation on both prices.
This change still holds the Charles in the catbird seat when it comes to pricing in the area – Watt’s Theater in Osage is $5.50 for adults, Cinema West in Mason City costs $9 for general admission, and College Square Cinema in Cedar Falls rakes in over $11 per ticket.
The Charles Facebook post writes: “Thank you for your support in 2019 and a huge thank you to our volunteers!”
