Mason City’s new Multipurpose Arena ready for public skating

The city of Mason City spent $15 million on the 3,412 seat capacity Multipurpose Arena – and now the ice rink is frozen solid and the paint lines are installed. To celebrate the finishing touches, the rink will be open for a holiday-themed skate on Sunday from 1-4 p.m.

For those who get bored easily, the scoreboards will be displaying the cult classic, “Elf.”

The Multipurpose Arena will host youth hockey, the North Iowa Bulls hockey team, basketball games, concerts, and trade-show events.
