North Butler girl’s cabbage wins her $1,000

Apparently, the most kept cabbages can grow to the size of an adult person. North Butler 4th grader Yamilet Montavlo’s cabbage, depicted above, was so big it won her $1,000 towards her future education.

This scholarship titled, ‘Bonnie Plants’ is in conjunction with the company by the same name, who is the largest producer of veggies in the country. Each year, 3rd graders from across the United States grow cabbages and submit them to the program for consideration.

Montavlo will be presented her award on January 14, 2020 at the North Butler Elementary auditorium.
