Deer hunting at Wildwood Park garnering wide concern

The deer hunting at Wildwood Golf Course in Charles City was greenlit recently, and ever since the announcement, the town’s Facebook pages are blowing-up with messages that are not too fond of the city’s decision. Mayor Dean Andrews says all of this uproar is coming from places like California and out-of-state, and the activists don’t realize deer hunting is a sport in Iowa.

Andrews says the issue is being blown out of proportion. The city studied every alternative they had to stop these deer from tearing up the greens at Wildwood, but most of them would not be permanent solutions.

Andrews says these hunters will be getting a deer either way – the city is just attempting to solve a money-loss problem with this state-wide sport.
