Des Moines, Iowa – Corn and soybeans continue to fall behind averages according to the latest data from the USDA.
The Iowa Crop Progress and Condition report released Tuesday says 86 percent of the corn crop has reached or is beyond the dough stage making it 12 days behind last year and 10 days behind the five year average. Only 41 percent of the corn has dented, two weeks behind last year and nine behind the average.
Soybeans are further behind than the corn. While 90 percent of the crop has set pods, its 18 days behind last year and 12 days behind the average. Three percent of the crop is coloring which is 11 days behind average.
