Corn, soybeans have fallen two weeks behind average schedule

Des Moines, Iowa – Corn and soybeans continue to lag in maturation to an extent of more than two weeks.

The latest USDA crop progress report released Monday says corn and soybeans are 15 days behind last year.  Eighty-four percent of the corn is silking and 24 percent is in the dough stage.

Seventy-eight percent of the soybeans have bloomed and 33 percent are setting pods.

Corn condition is rated at 66 percent good to excellent while soybeans are 65 percent.

The USDA crop report is released every Monday.
