Charles City Major Dean Andrews signing proclamation recognizing American Wind Week

American Wind Week August 11-17

Charles City – Today, August 5 at 6 p.m., Charles City Mayor Dean Andrews will be signing a proclamation recognizing August 11 to the 17 as American Wind Week in the city. This proclamation is state wide and Charles City will be one of nearly 30 cities across Iowa promoting wind energy as important to the infrastructure of the state.

Power Up Iowa, a group in support of renewable and wind energy and its acceptance in the state, is putting on these proclamations. Mackenzie Heddens, of Power Up Iowa, says wind energy is an important part of Iowan culture.

Soon around Charles City, wind farms will be repowering and Heddens says the prolimation’s timing is perfect.

Overall, Heddens is excited to see small towns like Charles City investing in the renewable energy efforts.

Governor Kim Reynolds is publicly in support of Power Up Iowa’s mission.
