New Hampton, Iowa – Chickasaw County officials postponed placing EMS service on the public ballots from 2019 to 2020.
The Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors decided at an earlier meeting in July to postpone putting the measure on ballots would be more beneficial to wait another year.
County documents say levying taxes for emergency medical services would be reviewed in the spring of 2020. The County Attorney’s office advised the board to place the measure on the November General Election in 2020.
Chickasaw County has a two-year agreement for ambulance services with the Chickasaw Ambulance Service taking them through 2021. Should citizens approve the tax, it would go into effect fiscal year 2021.
