Charles City, Iowa – A Twin City’s artist is adding a little flare to Charles City’s backdrop.
A town native, Molly Barrett will have a meet-and-greet session Friday discussing her proposed public art piece.
According to the Charles City Chamber, creation is called “History in Shapes” which is a metal structure with inspiration from the Charles Theatre, the 1968 tornado and the Suspension Bridge.
The Public Art Committee of Community Revitalization has endorsed the project and is helping reach a fundraising goal of $9,000. Several city groups are working together for locations with the preferred site near the Main Street Bridge.
Barrett will be outside the Charles City Arts Center from 4-6 p.m. on Friday.
