Charles City, Iowa – Registrations are still being accepted for the 2019 Smoke on the Cedar BBQ competition on Saturday, June 22, along the riverfront in downtown Charles City. Professional and amateur BBQ smokers alike are welcome to participate in this St. Louis-style rib contest formerly known as the Charles City BBQ Challenge.

Up to 20 teams will compete for $1,200 in cash prizes in this Certified Kansas City BBQ judged event. There will also be a People’s Choice Award based on public sampling starting at 4:30 p.m. that day. An optional “Anything But …” sides or dessert contest will also be offered with an additional cash prize. Ribs will be provided to all BBQ teams, but it is up to them what to bring and prepare for the judged sides/dessert contest if they opt to take part.

The entry fee for Smoke on the Cedar is $75 by June 14, and $100 after. The first 20 teams to register will be accepted, so don’t wait to sign up or risk missing out.
