Luau raises money for rescue animals

A group of animal lovers in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, has figured out a fun way to raise money for animal rescue groups with a yearly event they call the Bow Wow Luau and the Cat’s Meow.

Tomorrow, the group — called Heidi’s Hope for Homeless Animals — will host the 10th annual luau.

People from all over will show up in island-wear and enjoy live festive beach music — as well as an authentic Hawaiian hula.

And, plenty of money will be raised for rescue animals with live and silent auctions.

Through the years, the event has raised and donated more than $65,000 to animal rescue groups in the area — and that number is sure to jump in a big way after tomorrow’s party.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
