NWS releases info on Monday’s twister, damage reveals winds of an EF1

Charles City, Iowa – The National Weather Service surveyed damage caused by Monday’s twister.

Survey teams assessed damage Monday afternoon reporting the Floyd County twister had sustained peak winds of 110 miles per hour making an EF1.

The National Weather Service reports the tornado lasted for 15 minutes and ripped through nine miles of Floyd County with a max width of 60 yards.

The tornado started south and west of the fairgrounds, tracking north and east crossing Highway 218, Shadow Avenue at 155th street before picking up near Underwood Avenue.
